Fernando Montiel Wants To Break The Mexican Record

WBO bantamweight champion Fernando Montiel is aiming, like Erik Morales, to become the first Mexican fighter to win four major titles in four weight divisions. Montiel is training in the gym and plans to defend his title against mandatory Eric Morel in the fall. Montiel says that winning a fourth world title would mean a jump to super bantamweight in the not so distance future. [details]

Montiel should stay at 118lbs....he doesn't have the skill to compete at 122lbs.

He's not that dominant at 118, what more at a higher weight!

I'd like to see him fight Vazquez.

Well, he first needs to stop making excuses against the best fighters. Donaire: can't make weight. Morel: injuries.

If he gets past Morel 122 will be there for the taking once Caballero and Juanma join Vazquez and Marquez at 126. I'm sure a fight for a vacant belt with a mediocre contender can be made. Still, he needs to actually make it to and then through the fight with Morel, and that will not be a piece of cake.
