    Good post mellow.

His insight into Rafa was fascinating since Rafa is very guarded and never lets anything slip out.

Maybe thats why he wants the fourth fight with Vazquez. He already knows the style and feels like its a fight he doesn't have to keep raising his technique for.

Mellow, do you have the original transcript of the interview, in Spanish? I know sometimes things get "lost in translation" and I would like to see the original version, if possible.

Mayan Sun, who is training Mares now? Do you know why this is? I thought Don Nacho was doing a good job with Mares. Frankly, Mares didn't impress me before he hooked up with Beristain but I was seeing a lot of improvement.

Tim Bradley's trainer is in Abner's corner now. Which is a nice move, cause Bradley is another great 12 round fighter.

And how could you not be impressed with Mares before he hooked up with Beristain!? Technically, had more power then. He was a more devastating puncher before hooking up with Ignacio. But that's not Beristain's fault.

I remember hearing how Guzman was a puncher before he had a major surgery, Mares was the same. Before Abner's recent retina surgery, Mares had his gallbladder removed a couple years earlier, and he dropped a full weight class and became a 12 round fighter out of no where. He still has fast and accurate hands, but like everyone that gets put into surgery he lost major weight, I think that included a lot of his bodies' foundation. If anything, Mares was more impressive early on in his career when he still had that power. But with this recent setback with his retina surgery and the time needed for his eye to heal, who knows, maybe he was able to put that solid weight back into his bodies foundation. I mean he's still a young kid, he's still growing and will continue to grow.

But yeah, I think Mares is one of the two best Mex/Mex-American fighters to come out since 2000. The other being Bojado. People were high on Ortiz, but come to find out Ortiz was just a brawler, and his trainers just tried to make him camp on his left hand. Ortiz never really put solid work in when he fought, even though he could fold a guy in half with a single body shot, he never followed up on his work to the body, or head. But you got guys like Mares and Bojado who are on point with both hands for a full 12 rounds. Unlike Ortiz, these guys fight solid with both hands every round.

And Alpha just posted that Mares vs Montiel or Arce is what they're lookin at for the future, and after a few fights for Abner I think those would launch him into the sport. After that, I hope Darchynian can rack up some lame wins, just so Mares can put it on his phoney ass too lmao.

??????????????? Where does this come from because I see none of that in Cotto. If anything people have been critical of Cotto because he has been too humble and too quiet.

Don Nacho is such a technical trainer that I think he can help even a seasoned fighter and that says a lot about a trainer. Most guys need a fighter who they have been with for a long time but Don Nacho seems to "tweek" guys styles to make them better even late in their careers.
