David Lopez Pressing For Sergio Martinez Shot

Junior middelweight contender David Lopez recently came to the WBC offices to press for a shot at junior middleweight champion Sergio Martinez. Lopez (38-12, 23KOs), ranked 5 by the WBC, fought the majority of his career at middlweight and above, but recently moved down to 154-pounds. With twelve defeats on his record, Lopez is on a 14-fight win steak since May 2005 and picked up wins over Michael Walker, Billy Lyell, Ossie Duran, Danny Perez, Epifanio Mendoza [facing BJ Flores at cruiser]. He also broke the unbeaten streaks of Jerson Ravelo and Lonnie Bradley. [details]

I hope he gets his chances.

It will piss of the boxrec record judging diehards for sure.

Lopez has beaten fairly good comp lately, although I don't see him beating Martinez, he at least deserves the chance.

I agree, this guy has been beating everyone they put in front of him. He deserves a shot now.
