Please Help Me Convince A Boxing Hater

I have been arguing with a guy here at work all day about how boxing is more exciting then UFC, that it has more knockouts then decisions, that boxing is bigger worldwide than UFC, etc.

I was going to email him some of the top fights from the past few years, as well as any info proving boxing dominates UFC, so if you can give me any ammo for my argument such as the fights you think are the most exciting, (toe to toe center of the ring wars, or quick brutal knock outs), he doesn't have the attention span to sit through long fights. Also, I saw a post on here about top PPV numbers which helps my argument. So any info such as that would be great.

He's one of those who stopped watching boxing after Tyson lost it, and hasn't given it a chance since. But it is my goal, not to make boxing his favorite of the two, but to atleast get him to stop hating on it so much. He puts it down constantly and it is getting annoying.

Well, it's obvious your friend likes to watch more violent type of fighting. i wouldn't try to change his mind, but if it annoying you that much, just ask him to please keep his opinion to himself, that you are getting tired of hearing it. A litle kindness can go a long way. Good Luck.
And just enjoy your fav sport! As a big time boxing fan for over 40 years i see your point and totaly agree with you. I get pretty worked up watching a good fight, and hoot and holler, but your friend is also entiled to choose he fav sport. And it's likely you're not going to change his mind.

Boxing is not for everyone, if he was watching boxing only because of Tyson, he is no more than a Don Omega and Iron Truth type of guy. I personally was turned off by Tyson believe it or not.

Of course boxing has changed from time I started watching. I was turned on to the 15 round championship fights.

MMA is at least 50 % striking so that is a form of boxing, only MMA guys are not as good at it as boxer and vice-versa when it comes to the ground game.

If all this dude cares about is two guys street fighting, there are plenty of these fights on youtube where anyone can do it.

Both sports take skill, the difference is in boxing we hardly ever have a fighter who is 3-0 come in and become the king. Being undeafed in 5 fights is not that great of an accomplishment in boxing while in MMA a 5 fight winning streak nearly gets you an instant title shot The UFC is full of decent amateurs who got their fame from a show called The Ultimate Fighter. A bunch of no bodys became somebody. Boxing has only had the Contender and not all of them became anything, yet in the UFC all these unknown ultimate fighters have become huge and some are not even that good, they are learning on the job. Boxings real pro's, true champions of the ring, have made our CONTENDERS look silly in comparison. Mora was the only Contender to win a title out of all the Contenders, yet you have plenty of The Ultimate fighter guys fighting for contention against even MMA' veterans, although Forrest Griffin was exposed during the weekend, think about it, Bisping was also exposed. A bunch of nobodies in the sport and title are changing hands faster than a rabbit gets nailed.

I still watch THE UFC but I still watch boxing too. Tell that turd that Tyson was not everything in boxing. Boxing will always be bigger than one man. Tell him to get off Tyson's nuts and tell him to stop living in the past.

There are many great fights you can point him to. The obvious choice are there, but let him watch some of those that don't get that much attention like Razor Rudduck- Tommy Morrison, Chavez- Gamache, Golata - Sanders just to name a few.
