I wish to hear Manny Pacquiao who was proclaimed a Boxing Hero of Philippines say something about the death of our Former President Cory Aquino or atleast thanking her for what she did for us.
If it wasn't for her courage to fight for our democracy, there will be no manny pacquiao..
President Corazon Aquino and her husband Benigno Aquino Jr. fought for our freedom against the dictatorial government of former Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos.
Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino Jr. was assasinated on August 21, 1983 at the Manila International Airport (later renamed in his honor) upon returning home from exile in the United States.
After his death, his wife Cory Aquino continued his fight. Together with most filipinos if not all, they gathered along EDSA ( a major highway in phil.) and formed a peaceful revolution (EDSA Revolution) against the dictatorial government. With rosaries and prayers as their weapon.. they fought a peaceful war against guns and tanks. Priests, nuns, teachers, women, children etc..
After the success of the revolution, replacing the 20-year Marcos regime,
She became the first woman president in the history of Philippines.
She is a gift to our country and a true hero of democracy.
We love you President Cory Aquino. Thank you.
Maria Corazon "Cory" Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino (January 25, 1933 – August 1, 2009)
