Is there anyone on this board that has changed his or her mind about Saturdays fight with Bradley and Campbell?
Those of you that keep hating on Campbell sound pretty ignorant by calling him a quitter. I'm sure you guys hate it when delusional fans of Pacman, Cotto or Floyd come in here spouting **** out their mouths with no basis of facts. What do you think you're doing here? As idiotic as they sound, that's how you sound.
This fight was billed by the fans to be on of the best of the year. 2 rounds went by and the telling butt happened. Neither man had an advantage going into the 3rd. The fight was just starting to unfold.
Why is it that Bradley fans don't want to see this fight happen? Why is it good enough for you guys that Bradley escaped (for now) with a TKO when the bout was clearly decided by an accidental butt? The second of at least 3 i saw.
I'm not saying this is Bradley's fault but it clearly isn't Nate's. I don't dislike Bradley, he actually seems like a pretty good guy. He came out of nowhere and beat Witter and Holt. Not to take anything away from Tim, but neither of those guys are that impressive to me. Tim's got a good base to work with, but if he doesn't learn a few more things, his stay at the top will be short lived.
Nate on the other hand has taken his lumps and has always done what the powers that be in boxing have asked him to. Personally, i think Nate's pride is a bit too much and i have often told him that he needs to play the game of boxing. To beat the system and not let it beat you. Nate is a fight fans fighter, but being that doesn't pay the bills. That has never bothered Nate and although i'm sure he'd love the money, he refuses to play the game.
Boxing is rarely good to it's fighters with most of the promoters eating up all of their purses. There is no health care system for these guys. There's no retirement fund. Once you're done, you're done and if you weren't one of the lucky few who really made some money, you're in for a world of hurt.
Every fight fan wants to see a FOY. They get our adrenaline going every time we dust off that old VHS or DVD. But what do the fighters get out of it? Do they get royalties every time we re-watch their glory days in the comfort of our own living room? No, nothing. And chances are, if it was a FOY then it wasn't from one of these guys who has made it to the top of the money pile.
It's one thing to call a guy a quitter when you don't know the facts, but now you know them. Nate didn't quit because of a cut, he quit because a hemorrhage to his eye. The eye that none of you or I would be paying for 5 years from now when Nate has retired. Everyone wanted a FOY for their boxing collection, but at what price? At whose price?
If everyone is thinking that Tim was destroying Nate and there's no reason to do it again, then think of Tim. Shouldn't he deserve an easy payday? I mean, if Nate is so easy then Tim can use him as an easy tuneup for something bigger, right? But clearly, Shaw doesn't believe Nate is easy, and it was apparent in his post fight interiew.
As a fight fan, who wouldn't want to see this fight take place? Shaw will want Timmy to play the game of boxing and go for the money, but anyone who has followed Gary Shaw knows that he is a cancer waiting to spread into anything he gets a hold of. Tim is a winner, but he definitely didn't beat Nate. My guess is that Tim's pride gets the best of him and he demands a rematch. At least thats what a real man would do.
