I think they have a more legitimate claim than Ward and Dirrell. Who are those two? Lucian Bute and Karoly Balszay are both titleholders, Ward and Dirrell are not. But I guess it's all about getting as many Americans as possible into it.

They wanted at least half of the fighters to be American, since it will be televised in the US on Showtime.Comment

Yeah. The original concept was for the super six series to be boxings equivalent of the Ryder Cup in Golf. Best yanks vs. best euros.
Practical matters likely excluded Bute and Balszay however. Bute is rumoured to have refused an offer wanting more money and Balszay has been quoted for saying that he wants to milk his title in Germany for a couple of defenses before stepping up.Comment
