HBO money(2.25 to pavlik and 1.5 to williams) but i dont know what the gate-money should be like since we dont know where the fight would take place and we dont know who would be promoting the fight unless both Top rank and goosen would be promoting the fight then the gate money should be 50-50 to cover the cost.Comment

Yes the money that HBO put up is the guaranteed end but if Pavlik can do over 1 million at the gate against Rubio and 2.5 million against Hopkins it would be a good incentive for him to keep the whole gate plus Atlantic City is pretty much his back yard. With Pavlik making $3 million to Williams $2 million that's 60% to 40%. I think that's the way to make the fight happen and they would both end up making some good money. I think Pavlik should make the bigger end but what I really want is for the fight to happen, I say make both parties happy.Last edited by mrpain81; 08-03-2009, 03:45 PM.Comment

50/50 for the gate? And its been said the fight would be made in Atlantic City. If 12,000 people attend the fight id say 9,000 will be there to support Pavlik. 70/30 gate splitHBO money(2.25 to pavlik and 1.5 to williams) but i dont know what the gate-money should be like since we dont know where the fight would take place and we dont know who would be promoting the fight unless both Top rank and goosen would be promoting the fight then the gate money should be 50-50 to cover the cost.Comment

I guess this was the deal that got it done.I would make it $2 million for Paul and Kelly gets to keep the Gate and the rest, I'm sure there will be more money coming in from the international television. Kelly will probably make 3 million when all is counted. He ain't going to make that kind of money fighting Strum.
Top Rank's Todd duBoef showed immense patience in working through the deal. Had Arum, Top Rank's boss, handled the talks, you just know he would have gone off the deep end at some point and blown it with one of his classic outbursts. DuBoef was calm and cool and let it play out, holding firm on some aspects of the deal (a rematch clause for Pavlik and the gate money) while slowly upping the guarantee to Williams' side from about $1.25 million to a final number of more than $1.9 million.Comment

Woah, that's a bit daft. Williams thinking he should get anywhere near what Pavlik gets is delusional. He is fighting for Pavlik's title, he is moving up to fight the more seasoned, better known and much, much more popular champion who has already had some big dates on PPV.
If anything it should be Pavlik getting 2.5 or even 2.75 and Williams getting 1.25 or just 1 mil. Anything above that is absurd. Who does he think he is suddenly?Comment
