I totally agree, Paq is prone and LOVES to get in there and exchange. He can not do this against Cotto, but he will be lured into doing it, he can't help it.

Co-sign. If Pac gets lured into standing in there and exchanging with Cotto he is in for a hurting. Pac is faster and may be able to outbox Cotto but I just can't see him consistently back down Cotto. Now, he is obviously capable of stunning him and hurting him with his amazing combinations but that is not backing down a fighter. Some of the keys for me are: Can Cotto close off the ring effectively like he has done to every single smaller or same-sized fighter he has faced or will Pac's legs allow him to stay away from the corners and the ropes? Can Pac take Cotto's punch and keep coming? Can Cotto get off his jab off first with some regularity? (which for me was the key to his victory over Mosly) Can Cotto time Pac and hurt him with power counterpunches?

In addition, something that an earlier poster stated has been vastly understated in these discussions: Can Pac remain active for a full 12 grueling rounds? Pac hasnt had to do that since Marquez, and not only that but the rounds that he has fought since then have been relatively easy in that he hasn't had to dig very deep. I am in no way trying to take anything away from him, he was just way too effective against Diaz, DLH, and Hatton. In this case he is going to get hit. No question about that. And at times he will need to dig deep. We know from experience that Cotto can dig deep. Can Pac?

so hatton , delahoya and david diaz are still at the top????? delahoya hasnt been at the top for almost 10 years, hatton barley was ever at the top and diaz well ,i wont even go into diaz, the guys currentley at the top are mosley,jmm,and pbf,none of those guys have ever been stopped.and pac has blatantly and shamlessly ducked them . carefully chosen opponents are what pacs last 3 bouts have been all about.now here we go again cotto isnt what he used to be clearly hes slipping(sorry cotto fans)although cotto has a much better chance than pacs last 3 for sure.if pacs hot **** why not fight williams??? hmm?? will pac beat williams???williams is the best at 147lbs no question about it then its mosley i dont see pac even considering mosley not even at 140,pac is a meal ticket for thousands of people in boxing they arent about to put him in there with a stone cold killer like mosley or williams you know this dont pretend. this is why pac chose cotto and not mosley.nothing you say will change the fact that pac dont want jmm3 after relentless call outs and public demand as well as mosley or the top guys at 147 or 140 for that matter.

those were good fights all of them and for pac to win them are still a great accomplishment, but lets be honest, the jmm fights many feel as pac didnt win those and rightly so , morales was on a losing streak when pac got him and was even shot by the time he fought pac the first time around let alone 2nd and 3rd. barrera is about the best win that pac has with a guy in his prime and on a winning streak. pac knows whom to fight if it were about the best out there why not williams ,mosley or a 3rd go rnd with jmm??? hmmm? pac isnt ****** he saw what the sugarman did to marg he saw what marg did to cotto, he saw clottey and cotto hence this fight, although pac may get a big surprise as pac is very untested chin wise against a true welterweight .
