3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?

3 Potential Heavyweight Clashes this Year - Who wins?

Nikolai Valuev vs David Haye - 07 November 2009 (possibly in Germany)

Valuev and Haye have signed on the dotted line in a clash for the WBA Heavyweight Title held by Valuev.

    Wladimir Klitschko vs Alexander Povetkin

Povetkin is going to be trained by Teddy Atlas and probably have a warm-up first but as Wlad's No.1 contender he is up next for the Ukrainian. Wlad is the IBF and WBO Champion.

    Vitali Klitschko vs Chris Arreola

The elder Klitschko is in negotiations to make a voluntary defense against America's Heavyweight hope Arreola. Vitali's WBC belt will be on the line.

    ----------

All three fights are likely to take place this year and would certainly make it a Great Year for a division that has been in the doldrums.

    Who wins?

I think David Haye wins the, due to the fact that Nikolaj Valuev would lose against Manny Pacquaio, and due to the fact that Nikolaj Valuev doesn't back up his punches with his bodyweight.

I clearly see the two other bouts as the "occational" Wlad/Vitali schooling to be honest.

After these fights, we might get Wlad vs. David Haye that would be great in my opinion.

Does anybody know if the WBA title is on the line? And what's Chagaev's status in the WBA mess?

The latest WBA Ratings published have confirmed Nikolai Valuev as the undisputed WBA Heavyweight Champion. The Russian Giant is listed as the sole heavyweight champion, with Ruslan Chagaev having been moved to the number one spot of the rankings. Furthermore, Chagaev is not considered “champion in recess” any more. “We welcome the WBA´s decision,” said Chris Meyer, General Manager of Team Sauerland. “It confirms what we have been saying for a long time – that Nikolai Valuev is the undisputed WBA Heavyweight Champion.”

Chagaev had twice pulled out of fights with Valuev in May and July 2008. The third attempt – a fight in Helsinki – fell through in May 2009 when Chagaev was unable to fulfil the Finnish boxing federation´s medical requirements. “Since the new ratings clearly state who the true champion is, we can now submit the applications for official approval of Niko´s next fight – the voluntary defence against David Haye,” Meyer added.

Valuev´s clash with Haye is scheduled for November 7.

I'm going for Haye to fell the Giant, Povetkin to stop Wlad and Vitali to stop Arreola in a brawl.

            So

            Haye
            Povetkin
            Klitschko

I'm gonna stick with Povetkin as I have watched his career grow from the 1st steps and with Teddy Atlas training him and bringing something extra to his game, then, I see him upsetting the jab of Wlad and once that is gone there is nothing there-just a chin waiting to be broken.

I can see Arreola winning but the Walker fight sent alarm bells out - especially as Travis got Ko'd again recently (and early). Vitali is like an old champ, who while on the slide still does things good enough against the right opponents. Still Vitali for me but if Arreola is there after 6 rounds then it could be good night Klitschko.

As for young David?, well he is against "The Beast" a man that Vitali won't fight. Pick and move is the plan abit similar to what Chagaev did only Haye is throwing those H-Bombs. Timber big fella Timber.

Is the Wlad/Povetkin fight postponed to November, and the Wlad/Chambers fight scheduled in September? It would mean a very tight schedule for Wlad. Not that he couldn't handle it, but still straining. Beginning Sep to end Nov is still only some 10-12 weeks...

The KO homepage is silent on the subject.
