listen up panda - jones was only 3 and a bit years older than joe - people forget joe was nearly 36 himself when he fought roy - not as if he was some 25 year old slapping him around

calzaghe was too fast and too skilled for either of them - and lets be honest hopkins hasnt deteriorated drastically has he - hes a ****in miracle in the fact that hes lost very little of his reaction speed - his endurance is on the wane a bit i admit - not much i hasten to add - but he's basically still brilliant as evidenced by his dismantling of pavlick

calzaghe outboxes both in their prime i reckon. jones hasnt lost much of his power - so a fiirst round knockdown should be curtains surely? not against someone vastly better skilled than you i'm afraid

Calzaghe was almost as old as "those" guys and if they were younger and faster, then so would Calzaghe.

He did win by a high workrate and the best "on the job" adjustments in the ring which is why these other boxers seem to fall just a bit short and no one can pin point it, subtle adjustments. I liked watching him break the other guy down.

He was an exciting fighter, who was in quite a few exctiting fights. Whoever said he doesn't have a great chin, doesn't know what the **** there talking about. He had a very good chin, and amazing recuperative powers, when he he did get hurt or stunned in fights what I liked about him is that his head cleared very quickly he would get angry and fire straight back, reminds me of erik morales.

Like his fight with Byron Mitchell that was a really exciting fight, the 2nd round was one of the more exciting ive seen. Kessler, woodhall, Brewer, Eubank, Reid were also good, simple fact is that most of his fights were one-sided, his competition is always gonna be critiscised and rightly so, but he had quite a few solid wins throughout his career and fought good fighters in the last 2 years of his career, he beat the 2nd best fighter in his division, and then fought and beat hopkins the ring champion in the dvision above, who was clearly past his best but still formidable and on a winning run. Then he dominated jones who was way passed his best but still a threat cos of his speed and power. Love him or hate him he was a great fighter who would have been competitive with the best in any era...imo

not at all. couldnt care less if he was english, welsh, american, russian or from fuuckin mars mate. i know a good fighter when i see one and he was one of them. i admit he had an uncoventional punching style but it won him every one of his fights and most them were a pleasure to watch

the lacy fight must go down as one of the most complete boxing masterclasses of all time

i love rjj and b-hop as well but honestly think joe ranks higher. joe would NEVER get beat by tarver or glencoffe johnson and joe's style beats b-hop every day regardless of age

Whilst I agree most calzaghe haters overlook the fact that he was past his prime during his wins over kessler, hopkins, jones, I have to say that I don't think he would have beaten the latter 2 prime for prime...no way! He would have been competitive, very competitive. I actually think he would have had a chance against jones, because of the styles but not b-hop, although I think calzaghe won when they fought, I can honestly say that hopkins lost because he got tired, which is a credit to joe, but a hopkins in his early/mid 30's would have won by ud, he would have had the legs to execute the plan. Roy I fear would have been a little too fast for calzaghe, but I believe he could have made it competitive down the stretch
