Valrcarcel says Cotto vs Pacquiao Will Be a Title Fight

The president of the World Boxing Organization (OMB), lawyer Francisco 'Paquito' Varcárcel, insisted yesterday that the bout between Miguel Cotto and Manny Pacquiao filipino to be held on November 14 in Las Vegas will be the title that has Welter the Puerto Rican.

"It will be for the title," said Valcarcel. "And it has a happy ending," said Valcarcel, controversy arose over this week.

Cotto has been argued that the fight will be at 145 pounds but not the title of the 147 pounds he has under the statutes of the World Boxing Organization (OMB) that presides over the Puerto Rican Valcárcel.

Pacquiao wants to fight is the owner, but Cotto has said that the owner would fight, if fighting in the 147 lbs.
According to Pacquiao trainer, Freddie Roach, would not have any justification for his ward without a fight strap in the middle, said yesterday in the newspaper Manila Bulletin.

    Roach also applied pressure Valcárcel.

"The OMB must make the fight holds. No need to fight if it is not for the title. I want Manny to fight a cause. I want Manny to win his seventh title. I know that titles are overstated, but I would like to see Manny win, "said Roach.

Meanwhile, yesterday Cotto and Valcárcel, played golf with separately in another charity tournament crowned, Burger King.

Valcárcel Cotto said he spoke with during the activity held at Rio Grande. But speaking of golf, instead of tirijala that has formed between them on the belt that Cotto.

That was the theme of the meeting, according Valcárcel.

"He told me he has not played for some time," said Valcarcel regarding Cotto.

Yesterday, Valcárcel definitively confirmed that the fight will be at stake and that everything ended so happily between the parties.

However, the second part of the rectification is contradictory because the loser can not be entitled to the belt and therefore would not have happiness for both parties.

Asked about the contradiction, Valcárcel adjusted commentary.

"When I go into the ring, everyone will be happy," he concluded.

Seems to me like WBO president is delusional.

LMAO at the pinoy papers stealing quotes from El Nuevo Dia.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) removed one of Manny Pacquiao’s concerns when it announced Sunday that Miguel Cotto will defend his welterweight crown in a catch weight of 145 lbs — and not 147 lbs — against the Filipino boxing icon.

WBO president Francisco “Paco” Valcarcel told the Puerto Rican newspaper El Nuevo Dia that (the fight) it’s going to be for the (WBO) title” and that everything will come to a “happy ending” for both parties.

Pacquiao lawyer Franklin Gacal said he had spoken with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum also yesterday, assuring him that the fight will be at 145 lbs and that Cotto’s WBO throne will be on the line in the super showdown penciled at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Cotto had insisted a few days back that if Pacquiao wants to go after the WBO crown, the fight will have to be at 147 lbs.

Pacquiao trainer Freddie Roach said fighting Cotto in a non-title bout is almost without value.

Now that it appears that a major stumbling block has been cleared, next up for discussion would be the crucial choice of finding a new training camp for Pacquiao, who has been advised by the Harvard-educated lawyer to set up the first half of his training camp outside US territory owing to an IRS regulation called the Substantial Presence Test.

Arum, whose promotional outfit Top Rank is staging the megabuck fight, will embark on a huge promotional tour of four cities in September, kicking off with the lead event at Yankee Stadium in New York on Sept. 10.

The next stops will be in Cotto’s hometown of Caguas in Puerto Rico on Sept. 12, AT&T Park in San Francisco on Sept. 13 and Beverly Hills in Los Angeles on Sept. 14.

Then, the two will head to their respective training camps with Cotto going to Tampa, Florida, and Pacquiao in the Ba*****, Canada, Mexico or the Philippines.
