Judging rounds in a boxing match is subjective to the person scoring the round/fight.


How could you base someone's knowledge off of something like that ?

So the judge who scored that fight 116-111 for Cotto doesn't deserve to be chided..because judging rounds is subjective? Cotto obviously didn't do enough to win all three of those rounds.

Dan Rafiel is a cotto nutthugger, but he is right this time. There have been a helluva lot of title fights held at catchweights ever since the early 1900s. This should be no different.

just because there has been plenty of fights at catchweight. it doesnt mean that this one has to be.

It is up to cotto to put his belt on the line.

Were talking about the 1st 3 rounds. What your talking about happened later in the fight.

And Clottey absolutely absorbed a couple solid shots when he was on the ropes and Cotto was hitting him..but that was at the end of a round that Clottey had already dominated up till that point. And if you look at the punch stats Clottey still landed more punches in that round. And the punches he landed earlier in that round were cleaner than the ones Cotto landed.

Dan Rafael is just a man with an opinion.

He's a boxing analyst, but what can he really tell us about this matter?
Sure the belt CAN be up for grabs. Sure it HAS BEEN in similar situations in the past.

So what?

This is not a matter of fact. It's a matter of opinion. Cotto doesn't believe that he should have to put the belt on the line if he is not allowed to go up to 147. As we can see from the Rafael chat, many people agree with him. What's most important is that its Cotto's prerogative if he doesn't want to put the belt on the line.
