Really starting to wonder about Roach

I happened to see a great interview on HBO's Bryant Gumball's show with Roach and walked away initially thinking he was a great guy with a good heart. He seems to be very willing to give straight talk to his aging and damaged fighters when he feels enough is enough. But I have to wonder about him asking Manny's opponents to boil down to fight. He knows that doing so could prove physically dangerous but he is all to willing to stack the deck in this regard. I wonder if he has thought much about what could happen to these dehydrated opponents after taking a beating against a very dangerous Pacman? I understand his job is to look out for Manny but I just wanted to see if anyone else has thought this was somewhat hypocritical or just thoughtless on Roach's part?

Pacman is Roach's money train, and he'll do anything he can to keep it rolling down the track, including forcing his opponents to reduce weight to absurd lows for their size. And he'll get it, too, at least until Pacman gets stopped. After he gets KO'd, his team won't have the negotiating power they have right now, and the days of forcing opponents to come in drained and half-dead will be over. Had I known how far Oscar was going to have to come down for the Pacman fight, I'd never have picked him. He hadn't fought below 150 for what...7 or 8 years? And then tries to come in at 145. Yeah, that's smart on Pacman's part, but dumber than **** for Oscar.

Roach might've made a mistake in giving Cotto 145 pounds, rather than forcing him to 142 or 143. I think Cotto can stop Pacman if he's patient, does plenty of body work early, and lets his hands go upstairs after the 6th or 7th.

      Boil down?

Lets be honest Roach and Pac have no way off making Dela Hoya go down, he is the cash cow, he makes the demands. Dela Hoya did that **** to himself to give the fight some more "credibility" supposedly, Hatton was at his natural weight..

You make it sound like they are forcing Cotto down to 140.. Cotto came in 146 for his last fight he could have probably gone for a **** and taken his trunks off and made 145!! **** that boiled down **** if Cotto loses to Pac at 145 its cause he is not good enough period.

The fact that Roach is trying to get a 147 pound title on the line in a 145 pound fight tells me all I need to know about the guy. He's full of it, trying to cheat his way into a historic record. Come on, Roach, no shortcuts in boxing.
