Pacquiao vs Cotto: Should we expect this fight?

Pacquiao vs Cotto: Should we expect this fight?
    Jul.31, 2009 in > Boxing Commentaries

This blog is supposed to be for boxing knockout videos but the worsening situation on the negotiation of Pacquiao-Cotto fight cannot be ignored.

If the fight will not happen, there is no one to blame but the Pacquiao camp. They are asking more than Cotto can give. I’m Pinoy, a fan of both fighters (especially Manny) but I can’t take his inconsistency anymore.

Dear Manny, Freddie, Gacal, and other people around you.

Stop being ****** and fight for legacy. Fighting for legacy means you are to accept the toughest challenge your foe can offer. Cotto already agreed at 145lbs and willing to accept lower purse, why force him to put his belt on the line when you already have all the advantages. Stop being unfair Manny.. There were several title fights before on catchweight (eg Dela Hoya – Hopkins) but they both agreed on terms… why force Cotto to agree and saying “no belt, no fight”? Isn’t a childish attitude?

Yes you are a bigger draw, you are a pound for pound champion and you are the favorite, but you are not the whole boxing world. Don’t abuse your status. Why force Cotto to sell his belt for $80 when he took it for $100? The boxing fans would like to see real action fair and square. If you can’t fight at 147, no one is forcing you to go up, and we – boxing fans will not condemn you of refusing to fight at the limit. But on the other hand, if you wish to fight at 147, you would get full credit win or loss. The belt means no **** at 145.. The fight for 145 is all about money and not supposed to be for legacy… Will you consider yourself a proud Welterweight Champion after taking that priceless belt at 145? If you do, then you really something…

You are the one who is invading the Welterweight division and if there is someone that needs to adjust, it should be you… not Miguel. You are taking Cotto for granted..And those fellow ignorant Pinoys who knows nothing about boxing, stop stirring the issue in forums (ESB and BS).

We love to have a sports hero of our generation but that hero is turning to something people will surely didn’t like…

You know what Manny, those people around you can do nothing good to the sport… Will you stop being inconsistent?

Fight at 145 without belt or fight at 147 with everything… otherwise, go back to 140 and unify the division… A move to challenge Mosley is another ****** idea…beating Mosley even convincingly cant convince the real boxing fans that you beat an old and weight-drained fighter… Will you stop doing this? A fight with Cotto at 145 is already a good option – why ruin it just because of a priceless belt?

If you really need the 7th weight division championship title – be a man and face a real welterweight at 147.. How can you call yourself great if you are scared to take challenge? On the other hand, you can’t call Cotto a coward if he don’t want to fight in your terms because he have all the rights to refuse to give-up his belt.

    Again, I’m a real fan – I’m just tired of reading different updates everyday… on/off, left/right, no definite decision… stop being inconsistent…

There are precious few current options for either one that gives them as much money as a fight with each other.

PBF is with JMM so he is not an option.

So it comes down to Mosley or Cotto.

While Pac is very popular he is not on the Tyson or DLH level. DLH could fight Charlie Zelenoff and still get 10million guaranteed. How much did Tyson get for the can McNealy.

No, guys like Pac, Cotto, Mosley and even PBF need to fight against real competition in order to make real money and that leaves them with a limited number of options.

LOL.. who told you it's easier to make?

Cotto and Pac are under Arum yet the fight is facing chaos..
Cotto is smaller than Mosley and younger and can make weight easily
Cotto already agreed to receive lower purse...

The mosley thing is not even in the drawing board yet...

Pac team is making things worst...

Riskier fight though. I think there was a non-monetary reason that they took Cotto. Looking at their recent outings its pretty clear that Mosley looks the more dangerous.

I would also contend that Cotto is at least a little more popular than Mosley.

Mosley after Pac for Money... while Cotto still has alittle legacy in mind..

Can he demand the same thing to Mosley? I don't think so..
