theyve both agreed at 145.....the only problem now is the belt.....my point is pac never signed the fight to be non title coz if he already did im sure he would'nt ask for it now........ofcourse he cares aboutthe title and making another history, would'nt you if you were him,be honest now?....

They are at an impasse. In negotiations you give and take. It is obvious that at some point Pac believed the contract was fair and announced it.

However now he wants something. So it is a simple quid pro quo. Cotto is saying you want X then give me Y. I would say that if Manny doesn't want to go upto 147lbs then offer Cotto 5-10 more points on the split.

Its unrealistic for Manny to believe he can get a concession from Cotto without making some of his own.

You are right, the 7th division title is important but it can't be all manny or cotto. Manny wanted 143 and cotto 147 and they agreed at 145/non-title(that we know of).
Correct? Well now if manny wants the fight as a title fight, that is okay as long as it's 147, that way both fighters benefit from change. Is this wrong?

I think cotto cares more about 147 than getting more money and i think that is good. Cotto needs to fight at his best whatever weight that is. If he wins the money will come in next fight.

i know they agreed the 145 weight but i dont know if pac really agreed to be nontitle....there was an article sayin he did but does'nt have a credible source........the belt is still on the process of negotiations.......and it s simply just a yes or no answer.....

You might be right. But they wont know till they offer, it's just part of negotiations called the counter offer.

However consider that 5-10 more points would mean millions. That is not easily turned down especially if he is already fighting at 145lbs anyway.

It depends on what importance and value either side puts on things.

ohhhh, so you think manny/cotto did not agree to whether fight is title or non-title? Ok, then maybe both can NOW agree to title/147, that way both get what they want. Is that fair?

I know cotto/pacman will make cotto ALOT of money but if he feels negotiations are not going right then get out and you can still make money with cotto vs mosley 2, cotto vs margarito 2, cotto vs floyd. Cotto needs to realize that it's easier for him to get those fights than pacman to get those fights, with maybe the exception of mosley. If pacman cannot get title fight with cotto, where else can he get a welterweight title fight? Who are the other welterweight title champs? Makes you realize that pacman needs cotto for the 7th title. : )
