They're different fighters. Roy Jones was a flashy showboat. Hopkins is a master technichian. Both are great at what they do.
Why is it so important to compare everything and rate one before another?
Roy beat Bernard 12 years ago, but Hopkins was far from his best. However, Roy had injured the right hand, and couldn't fight his best either. So who knows what would happen if they met in their primes...

My point is, they're both great, both exceptionally gifted in their respective ways, so why whine and ***** about the smallest of things?

        Good post!

I agree! What is the use of attempting to justify two different fighters place in boxing! Both have accomplished a lot in their careers. Bernard was a late bloomer so his fight with Roy does not answer all questions. Hopkins defeat of Trinidad as well as De La Hoya were great victories for him, especially how decisive they were! Hopkins deserves all of the praise he is getting! Wiiliam Joppy was a good fighter, he was starting his decline when he was in that middleweight tournament and Trinidad (applause to him) went through him like he was an untested journeyman! But Joppy was still a legitamitetop middleweight which showed just how good Trinidad was! Hopkins dominated Trinidad!

As far as the current P4P ratings are concerned, why is Mayweather such a sure choice for the top spot? I think Tszyu is just as deserving based on quality of opposition! Tszyu may have been more inactive than Floyd due to injury, but Tszyu has fought all of his top opposition and won easily!

It mean somthing because he beat De La Hoya who is a huge name in boxing. De La Hoya and Trinidad both stepped up to 160 and were there for Bernard to fight and he fought them and beat them. Its not his fault De La Hoya was undersized.

You're right he'll never be on Roy Jones level...he'll never get knocked the **** out twice in humiliating fashion...you're right he'll never go down to that level.
