John Murray Still Wants To Fight Amir Khan

To compare khan and murray to legends like hagler and sugar ray is embarrassing. Fact is khan has been fast-tracked to his world title because he did well at the olympics at such a young age and the pulling power of his promoter.

Murray on the other hand has had to come up the hard way and in all fairness hasn't matched khans level of oppostion yet. Murray has just beaten scott lawton in 6 rounds, a guy khan knocked out in 4 rounds, 2 years ago. Whether murray likes it or not he's going to have to come through alot of hard fights before he gets a shot at khan. Murray should focus on staying active, he's a young guy who fights about twice a year, it's not good enough.

Good post actually. I have been wanting to see this fight for a long time. Now khan has gotten a lot further than Murray the chances of this happening are slim. Murray has got to work up to khan now believe it or not.

I hate how Khan won that belt. Frank Warren is good to be able to get him a WBA belt. Losing to a nobody, beating an Irish P.E teacher, beating Barerra (who was a blown up featherweight and has seen better days) to getting a title??

I've been saying this for some time now. Murray is going to big-boy Khan, his style is way too much. Murray has one hell of a chin, and he'd have no problem getting on the inside of Khan - no problem at all. Murray could never get a points decision on Khan, but he WILL knock him out. Once he's in he's going to start landing his monsterous uppercuts, Khan's chin is going to be his downfall. I don't think that either Warren or Freddie will let this fight happen, way too risky..... so Murray's going to get shafted, again.

Murray's defence isn't bad.... it's completely non-existent. I doubt that Murray knows what the word means. However, Khan's still going to get bullied into a situation he can't get out of, and then KOed.

This is a joke. Murray doesn't have the skill set to even trouble khan.
Every single jab will land flush on murrays nose. Every time he walks forward and throws a shot khan will counter him with ease. If you don't believe me check out round 6 of the kotelnik, the only time kotelnik initiates an attack he gets countered hard.

MAB and kotelnik were counter punchers so a come forward guy like murray would play into his hands.

I'm not saying he hasn't got flaws but seriously even hamidi should have beat him (he only got the call he was fighting that day!

I dunno, I've thought about it, and I just really don't see this fight going Amir's way. Should this fight happen (which I don't think it will) I would happily bet all of my points on a Murray KO. Khan knows what Murray's got, and I can see him being overly cautious as a result of that. Khan's keys to victory in this fight will be to keep murray at a (long) arms length in the biggest ring he can get. I expect the power that Amir has to be neutralised by Murray's chin, which is fantastic (though that can only take one so far). This fight would be an absolute ****show and exciting as hell. I look forward to it.

stylistically, regardless of Khan's paper chin, a come-forward guy with no real defence should be his ideal opponent.

I mean, who has Khan faced with a come-forward style, the Prescott fight can't count since he got taken out before it even started, so there was no pattern to that fight. The only guy I can think of is Gomez,who whilst a Super-Feather must have got hit flush about 8.6 million times whilst it lasted, despite scoring a knockdown himself.

Murray is teak-tough, but I can see Khan stepping on the gas and not letting Murray into it and forcing a semi-dubious stoppage.

I really like Murray but I can just see him getting Tattooed. For the same reasons, I'd be tempted to match Khan up with guys like Katsidis too. Too aggressive, too wreckless, and Khan has massive physical advantages in just about every area over each.

I can't see murray landing flush in the first 4 rounds. Khan would just be too fresh. Khan would tie him up everytime he got close and would easily nick the first four rounds. I would then expect murray to have lost his edge and if he did catch khan I doubt he would floor him as murray requires his feet to be planted to put power in his shots.

I personally think we haven't seen anywhere near the best of khan. simply because his style is made for people who come onto him, e.g. maidana! The last two fights he had to pot shot and counter-counter punch because they were both very smart technical fighters.

He would school murray and knock him out late on IMO.

Murray is not a top fighter. He has been a professional for 1 year longer than Khan, and has yet to go past domestic level. His best win was in his last fight, which was Lawton.

Murray struggled to beat Al Hamidi, a journeyman who had a record of 4-8-1 at the time. Khan will outbox him easily and make him look ******. Murray has limited skills, he is just a domestic level brawler.
