Does watching boxing make you a better fighter??

I've never been a dude that throws down alot but I have before. Since I've been watching boxing in a hardcore way, I have to say I have become a much better fighter. I know when a punch is coming and where to hit a guy better then I ever did in the past. shadow boxing helps too.

I don't think it makes you anywhere near what a gym or a good trainer would ; that's ridiculous.

But it does have an effect. I started watching it when I was right around 11 years old, and I picked up a lot of little things just from watching that helped me defend myself better at school and on the streets.

Little things like the proper way to throw a punch, the proper way to hold your hands, and most importantly ; foot movement.

I shadowbox all the damn time and I'm not even a pro or amateur ; it's just something I really enjoy doing.

It helps...Atleast it did me. When I started boxing I had watched it so much that I didnt have to put to much effort in learning. They thought i had boxed before. The only problem is I watch the little guys fight so my Im a heavyweight that fights like a welterweight. I like it cause it throw more combos and keep moving and my training is exactly the same. Most heavy's that i have sparred are a come foward and throw bombs...Im more of a 2 jabs straight right left hook to the body straight right again...take one step back then straight right....

I wish I could ; my nearest boxing gym is 200 miles away both ways.

Good luck with that, my mna.

It's like anything else in life, some people can pick things up just by watching and others not so much and need help. Those who can pick it up by simply watching are considered naturals to a certain degree.
