Witter vs. Alexander not for the WBC title?

According to fight news, the WBC will not sanction Saturday's fight between Junior Witter and Devon Alexander:

The WBC will not approve the bout between Devon Alexander and Junior Witter for the vacant super lightweight title due to the selection of officials by the California State Athletic Commission. “For the WBC to approve the fight as for the WBC title it would be needed that one of the American officials, preferably a judge is taken out and a foreigner approved by the WBC is appointed, with the approval of the CSAC, of course otherwise, our sanctioning will be suspended,” said WBC president José Sulaimán. “I can not hide my disappointment for this decision taken by the CSAC, with which we have had the best of relations and mutual cooperation through the years; I sincerely feel offended and humiliated for their apparent lack of respect to justice and the WBC rights of our officially registered World Boxing Council (WBC) trademark and championship accolade. I would be betraying the confidence bestowed on my by the Board of Governors, with members from all over the world, who are the people that elected me, if I don’t defend justice and the WBC’s rights.”

The California Commission appointed referee Lou Moret and judges Benjamin Rendon (Mexico), Jerry Cantu (Californaia) and Glenn Trowbridge (Nevada) to handle the bout. According to Sulaimán, the British Boxing Board of Control, Witter’s representatives and Alexander’s representatives have all objected.

****, they better get this sorted out. I was looking forward to this card. I know belts don't mean much to the fans - but this is Witter's career we are talking about. He is nearly 37 and needs a belt pronto to make some big fights. Also, it would take some sheen away from the promotion.

The WBC said they won't put the title on the line as both boxers are black.
