The only problem I have is that with that 7th title Pacquiao breaks a record and makes history and its forever going to be tainted.
My own two cents is that, for as long as Cotto will make 147 or below in the fight, the welterweight crown will still be at stake. What happens when they agree to 145 and cotto makes 147 on fight night? will the fight be cancelled? of course not. Penalty clauses will set in, but they will still fight. However, if the WBO will strip Cotto of the title for making 146 on weigh-in, then that is wrong.

How exactly would it be tainted?? This 145lb catchweight is nothing more than peace of mind for the 2 parties involved

Cotto weighed in at 146 for his last 147lb fight. He will have no problem making the 145lb limit and no problem rehydrating to his usual 160lbs or so fight night.

So 145 or 147 it makes no difference. If the belt is on the line the 145lb weight limit will be nothing more than a formality.

Pacquiao is humble but known to be inconsistent in making decisions.. and I think the one to blame are people around him giving him too much dosage of mixed suggestions and comments..

Here's a question that's been on my head and i would really appreciate the boxing experts here to answer (i'm no expert, just a casual fan who happens to be filipino). if the catchweight is 145, and cotto's WBO title is on the line, and Cottoy weighs 146 during weigh-in, will he be stripped of the title regardless of the outcome of the fight?

1 - he has too many people whispering in his ear

2 - the guy who wrote the first one as manny messed up so he had to correct himself

manny doesn't write that ****. that's just someone who works for him. manny has better things to do.

It's difficult to answer but for me, since the contract says 145 they should be at 145... it always depends on what they signed.. If you allow cotto to come at 146, then that is a double standard...

Though I'm pacfan I won't agree with you... Put yourself in Cotto's shoes..

If the title is on the line and Cotto losses the fight, his conscience will be his lifetime nightmare... he said he took that title at 147 so why will he allow someone at 145 to take it away from him easily... He will never forgive himself if he do that and lost.. he better vacate the belt... and I agree with him...

Money and belt are totally different thing... I will not give pacquiao credit for winning the belt unless Cotto agree without any excuse and preconditions.

The weight limit for the fight is in the welterweight limits so it wouldn't be bad if the title was on the line. However, I the WBO will try and make Cotto defend his title which will lead to Cotto vacating it.
