  • Boy was I wrong....

First off, I would like to say that I was not surprised but I wasnt impressed either.

Eastman fought how I thought he would, He took a punch at a time. Although I had the fight much closer since I believe Eastman did a hell of a lot more than Hopkins in the early round.

But I am not going to criticize Hopkins for the way he fought, and I think its absurd that a lot of people are as well. This style is how Hopkins got to number 20.

A usual Hopkins fight, is he takes the first round feels you out and then puts his footwork to use to let his opponent punch himself out and then in the 2nd half he executes. Their was nothing unusual about the way Bernard fought tonight.

I thought Eastman would have been a bit more busier in the fight, especially with his long reach but that was not the case. I also felt the announcers did a horrible job on their part last night, everytime Hopkins would land a jab you would hear "Ohh good god did you see that crisp jab that wobbled Eastman." Especially when I would see Eastman tap Hopkins and Hopkins never even touches Eastman, maybe my eyes deceive me but this is a continous thing for their HBO fighters....Roy usually corrects them but Roy was gloating all night (If you couldnt tell)

Anyways, I was a bit disappointed but not entirely. Hopkins fought his fight and their was nothing else to it.

Cong**** to you B-Hop on your 20 victims.

Great career and I actually enjoyed the fight last night, Very defense and counterpunching all night...Eastman needed to be busier and power wasnt a factor either.

Vintage Hopkins right their....Does this man age?

I agree Eastman had to be busier and he wasn't, Hopkins just dominated him from rounds 6-12.

I understand the waqy b-hop fights. He needs to pace himself, he is 40. If he fought carelessly would he still be in the condition he is today?

Absurd or not, I will critize him for running for 6 rounds...it doesnt take THAT long to figure your opponet out!
I do agree that the commentators were blind to just about anything Eastman did while everything Nard did was nothing short of amazing..but thats the usual for HBO fighters. And of course Jones was gloating..he's the only one to have beaten Hop so he has that particular "song" to sing about (even though it was many years ago!!). But since he's lost by ko his last 2 fights I guess he has to pump himself up some way And yeah, I know I'll be highly regarded for that opinion!

Kinda, in a way. It's like when someone says something and then turn out to be right..they can either be a man about the whole thing, or they can rub their being right in the faces of those that said otherwise. Thats the best example I can think of at this time Jones should be proud of the fact that he's the only one to beat B-Hop in many years, but the fact that it was years ago, and the question of could he do it NOW, should also be considered!
