Hopkins Makes Eastman Number Twenty; Will Taylor Be Twenty-One?

Bernard Hopkins can do whatever he wants, however he wants, where and whenever he wants to whomever he wants.

Hopkins, who moves to 46-2-1 with 32 knockouts and one no-contest, has acted as his own manager and promoter, steering himself away from exploitation until finally earning that mega payday (and subsequent partnership in Golden Boy Promotions) with Oscar De La Hoya. He has thrown a monkey wrench into Don King’s planned crowning of Felix “Tito” Trinidad by knocking out the Puerto Rican and winning King’s middleweight tournament. [details]

Give him a few more fights and some time. If he can use a little more body movement and not back up when a fighter throws big shots he has the power to take Hopkins out. He is not ready yet, but he will be.

I would prefer seeing Hopkins take on Taylor rather than Glen Johnson next. Its just somthing about the old grizzled vet taking on the young gun of the division that I think would do more for Hopkins carrer than simple moving up a couple weight classes to take on the pretty good but not great Glen Johnson.

I too don't think Taylor is quite ready for Hopkins, but I think it will happen. Its a high reward but low risk fight Taylor, if he wins he's instantly in everybody P4P list, if he loses he simplely goes down to one of the best middle wieghts to come around in a long time and can still rebound and have a great career. I hope and think the fight goes down in the summer.
