Trust me, I am a huge Cotto fan, but I cannot for the life of me come up with a way he can win this. He had a TON of problems with Mosley, basically ran the whole last 4 or 5 rounds if I remember correctly.

That just shows you, he cannot fight a fight like that for 12 rounds.
How did Cotto have a ton of problems with Mosley? He was outpointing Mosley and between 6-8th round Mosley was the one back peddling while Cotto kept his jab in Mosley's face.

Even when Mosley became the chaser, Cotto still outpointed him landing straight lead lefts making Shane give the "SMH" nod.

Great fight, but Cotto didn't have TONS of problems.

Question should also be... Can Pacquiao take the punches that margarito/clottey dish out?

No question Cotto has an advantage on upper body strength and fought and beat bigger fighters while Pacquiao has better boxing skills, decent power and speed.

However, there are intangible attributes that pacquiao has an advantage with Cotto, that is the mental power and heart to fight back intelligently if confronted with unexpected odds that favors the opponent.

            who knows really for certain?

i think he can only mix it up with cotto only on spurts...

if MP decides to mix it up with cotto the whole fight like penalosa did against lopez, he is kissing the canvas...

a ton of problems? he was never hurt or wobbled against mosley. he ran out of gas and boxed his way to victory. you don't win rounds by just running, and cotto stole a round or two "running" like you said. even mosley admitted it

and no, pac won't withstand the big shots mosley ate from cotto. his chance of winning is to avoid those, which i think he will early. the fight will go to whoever lands first or to the one that gets used to the other one's power. it's pretty even i think

he beat mosley (#1 current WW) in a close UD, lost to margarito (tainted win), and beat clottey on a close SD (#3 current WW). i'd love to see pac go against those 3 without having his own share of trouble

True, but against fighters who are not WELTERWEIGHTS. when are people going to realize that Pacman will be fighting a good welterweight.....WELTERWEIGHT. Yes, manny is fast but i notice when he is throwing all those punches he is very open and against cotto that is a hugh mistake. I connection by cotto and manny will think he is in manila. Remember barrera, morales and marquez DO NOT have cotto's power or jab.

No. Thankfully Pacquiao is more elusive than Margarito so he wouldn't have to take those kind of punches.
