You can throw out the "catch-weight" excuse since Pavlik was moving up and not down in weight so he wouldn't show up dehydrated/flat like some other fighters that may have trouble dropping weight.
Remember, unless Pavlik's fighting weight is 160 on fight-night, the weight increase was naturally there. The big difference would be that he wouldn't have to piss out his fluids to make weight like he did at 160. Most fighters tend to gain 10 pounds by fight-night. Pavlik wouldn't have to lose that much to make the 168+ scale weight or whatever it was. It actually should have been better for him because he wouldn't have to take the risk of draining himself for the 160 scale. He could just show up at his fight-time weight.
