It already exists, it's called UFC. So fighters want more money. Fine, but what do they do with the money? They hire promoters, the promoters are there to make sure their guys look as good as possible taking the most money possible and facing the least risk possible. The final result to the consumer - us is that we get a crap value for each ppv as all the money is taken by the main event (sometimes these guys aren't even the best in the world but they are popular). Well anyway it's impossible for boxing to go back to what ufc is today. The only hope is that they figure something out when people are no longer willing to pay. Compare UFC 100 to any boxing card of recent years. UFC 100 had 3 main events which would all make ppvs by themselves separately! The rest of the card was also wow. The best value I've EVER seen in a fighting card, apart from K1 productions.
i wish boxers just made str8 up saleries

Let's say you have switched places with Pacquiao. Your now Pacquiao, and Pacquiao is posting as you. Would you want boxing to be how you just said?
Remember, your Pacquiao. The man to beat, the p4p king. The guy who can demand 60/40 share for a 1.4 million buys fight. if need be.Comment

hbo & showtime boxing heads arent smart enough to figure this out. they can actually eliminate promoters & just deal w/ boxers directly. make a 1 year contract w/ somebody like paul williams. 1 year 3 fight contract lets say 1.5-2 million a fight. networks get to promote the fight & chose who they fight.
take a giant company like espn. they can easily afford to sign someone like pwill, chad dawson, gamboa, donaire, linares, pay them a per fight quote. they would do a much better job of promoting a fighter with espn 1&2, classic, abc. they could outbid & out muscle any promoter.
look at all the major promoters, they do a injustice in terms of promoting their fighters. too little mainstream radio & tv exposure.Last edited by DonTaseMeBrah; 07-27-2009, 05:42 PM.Comment

they sign a per fight contract, they get promoted properly, big networks dont have to deal with slimey reptilian promoters.
big networks can outbid any promoter. they can offer to pay sanc fees, pay trainers. all the fighter has to do is show to fight like a nba or nfl player shows up to play.
the bigger u get the higher your quote is. u get a boxing council on the network & they get to choose the fights for the fighters, no more accusations of cherry picking, u know like the old days when stars fought on abc.
this all makes too much sense to work.Comment
