Fitness wise.I think roadwork is one of the most important things for building stamina.I'm lucky in that I live at the bottom of the fells so do alot of fell running.I've had great stamina since I was an amateur and put it down to that.I do an average of six miles a day six days a week and maybe 10 miles on Saturday.I also do one sprint session a week.At our gym we do 40 45 minutes non stop sparring. We're not knocking the hell out of each other, but having fresh, different opponents really takes it out of you.We also do alot of bar bag and circuits with benches. We have those old school benches so we do step-ups,jump-overs-they're horrible-straddle jumps, which are when you jump over then do a squat upon landing, press ups with legs on bench, squats with the bench in your hand then lift the bench to the ceiling. There's so many circuits you can do.We do use weghts but mainly as part of a cardio circuit.Light weights for 30 seconds each time. But if I did all gym work and no roadwork I wouldn't be confident I was fitLast edited by BIGPOPPAPUMP; 07-27-2009, 09:23 AM.Comment

He's worth a punt, I think.
I hope Brook wins though, I have high hopes for him. But if Jennings gets comfortable he could be a threat, he can keep going at a good pace for 12 rounds, he could test Brook's lungs out. If Jennings could punch, he'd be a world-class fighter, I reckon.Comment

I like Jennings heart and style. i feel he shouldve taken on smaller WWs like berto or Collazo befiore stepping in with the best WW in the worldiv always thought the same thing, iv always wondered if brook could make 140, hes always in shape though and thats whats important, maybe his team know that the weight gives his body a bit of breathing space to really mature into the 147 frame.
anyways this is a really good domestic fight, one that i hope is on ITV. jennings is a very good fighter with good skills brook himself has good power, is patient and has good timing.
imo brook will take it but this is a good test and i wouldn't be surprised if jennings gives him more than a few problems.Comment

exactly, and he wouldnt be even if he had been taken there gradually. Cotto could have been any top 5 welter really, margo, shane, berto, collazo would have all stopped him. I'll go out on a limb and say Brook to win this, he does look liable to getting outboxed, lomax put on a bit of a display for a round or 2 in their bout, but i dont think jennings can stay out of the way of Kell's right hand for 12 roundsComment

Is the Lomax fight worth watching?exactly, and he wouldnt be even if he had been taken there gradually. its on the frankwarren channel on youtube mate, its not a particularly good performance by Brook i didnt think, the stoppage wasnt really fair either. Lomax performed pretty nicely for a couple of rounds but looked like kell was just waiting to put his foot on the gas.
This is the problem with big punchers, early in their careers their either punching to kill or their waiting. Kell clearly didnt care that he was getting outboxed cos he had no intention of letting the fight go the distance, but if you give a fighter like jennings a couple of rounds to establish his jab you could be on the end of it all nightComment
