I just had say that of all the recent deaths this month, Vernon's has hit me the hardest. I don't know why. I was pissed at him for years for beating Mosley.
I felt that way as well but I think it's probably because he was still boxing and still had potential fights available for us to watch unlike Gatti and Arguello. May he rest in peace. ONE
I was never a big fan of his in the ring, but I always knew he was one of the few genuine good guys in boxing and always respected him. That's why I feel so badly about what happened.
He had that smile too, hard not to like the guy as a person.
I wasnt a fan but yes the **** shocked me...
Boxing gets put aside at times like this.....
I hear you, I wasn't a huge fan either. After he dismantled Mosley I was pretty pissed (Mosley was my man much like Pacquiao is since I first saw live on the Tyson v Lewis under card) but for some reason this was the toughest to deal with. What makes it strange for me is that I have met Gatti and a couple of cousins of his a number of times (in Montreal, his cousin owned this little **** hole of a bar that I used to frequent during happy hour after work) yet it didn't seem to shock me as much as Forrest's passing.
Lol.... Im the same as you here man. I HATED him for beating Mosley...I still remain constant that it was a headbut!!!!!! But his passing has hurt me the most. Its just that hes such a good guy and he almost demanded respect with actually demanding it.
I have been through some tough ass times, had my family disown me, all my friends were fck ups ,and through those times i could always lean on boxing,so when i found out Gatti died i cried and i hurt and i have no problem saying that ,when i found out about Forrest honestly it made me sad but even more it pissed me off that a country so full of oppurtuinity can still have this type of violence,i grew up in bad neighborhoods and i did not turn to a gun or selling drugs,so the excuses of poverty are just bs to me.
