If JMM beats Mayweather. He wont take #1.

I was wondering because as I looked through the p4p ranking list. IF JMM did in fact beat Mayweather by anything, it would be as if JMM was fighting a nobody. Floyd isn't even ranked anymore, not at WW/JrWW/JrMW and not even p4p top 10.

So what do you think about that? JMM beating a guy not ranked, would that allow him to move up and take the #1 spot even though it's Mayweather?

Well it would still be considered a huge accomplishment in boxing circles. He would deserve strong consideration, and putting him at number 1 if that happeaned is well within reason. I would expect that Pacman would remain the concensus man but some people would be talking real loud about how JMM deserves that title.

If Pacquiao struggles against Cotto, I still dont think it would do anything for JMM. Because Floyd isn't even top 50. So, in essence it's like JMM faught and beat a nobody even though we as fans know that Floyd is obviously a top tier guy.
