wait...hold up...so let me get this straight;
he didnt want Cotto to put the belt on the line because he has to come in at a catchweight
the reason he chose Cotto was because he was lookin for a war?
what kind of sorry ass p4p king does THAT kinda ****?

A smart one. You don't have to fight a heavyweight to be recognized P4P best you know (there's that cliche again), or go up in your weight. What determines P4P greatness is how you fight, not at what weight. Pacquiao stated two years ago that his limit is 140 pounds, and 147 is too high for him. He only agreed to fight De la Hoya because he saw that he has a chance against him. But who can give a good fight at 140? Tim bradley? do you really think the world will be watching Pacquiao fight Tim Bradley? Give him credit for moving up to face a good fighter and a legitimate champion in the welterweight division.
Like I said at the beginning of my thread, Pacquiao is THAT HUMBLE. Part of humility is knowing and acknowledging your limitations. Nevertheless, he accepted the Cotto fight, for the fans.

Oops, I did not see the sarcasm there. My badd too. I think your avatar blinded me and kept me from understanding your post the first time. Cheers!

manny?
Ask him. Actually I wanted Manny to chase boxing immortality and become the first fighter to capture world championship belts in 7 weight divisions. I think everyone who loves Manny wants this to be a championship fight for Cotto's belt for this reason. I was one of the rabid posters who argued that if this is not a welterweight championship bout then no Cotto fight. I belived this... until I read the article and I understood that Pacquiao is such a humble guy that he does not consider boxing immortality something to be desired (for those of you knowlegeable in the bible this rings a bell huh).
Why 145 then? One, because that was the original weight Cotto's team proposed. Second, every pound counts, and if Cotto is willing to give Pacquiao two pounds, why not? Lastly, Pacquiao is defending his pound for pound title here, and weight is not the defining criteria.
Just my opinion, I'm not Manny after all.
