Hernan Marquez Decisions Juan Esquer, Remains Unbeaten

By Jake Donovan - Hernan “Tyson” Marquez opened up the Latin Fury 10 pay-per-view telecast with a deceptively wide decision win over former world title challenger Juan “El Panterita” Esquer in their 10-round super flyweight bout at Grand Mayan in Nuevo Vallarta, Nayarit, Mexico.

    Scores were 98-92, 99-91, 100-91.

The fight was deceptive in that the scores were accurate, yet did not accurately reflect the spirited exchanges that took place throughout. Marquez (25-0, 18KO) deserved to win most of the rounds but had to work hard to take each three-minute frame. Esquer (25-6-1, 19KO) remained in his face the entire night, though much of it was spent taking two in order to land one. [details]
