Did Boxing cause Hattons heart condition?

Hatton has been reported as having a heart murmur. Do you think it is due to the punishment he took throughout his whole career combined, punishment he took in his last 3 fights, or nothing to do with his boxing career all to do with lifestyle?

It has nothing to do with boxing and everything to do with his lifestyle when he wasnt boxing. The way hatton drinks if it wasnt a heart condition it would have been a liver condition.

It's in his autobiography about this, nothing new, he said he was worried it would stop him fighting, this was I think before he turned pro, but it didn't matter in the end.

Most of which are quite normal, and don't suggest any medical condition that needs treatment. If a doc hears one, though, they will check it out to confirm there is no underlying problem, which can take a while.

It was probably caused more by his lifestyle outside the ring but boxing could still have contributed to this.

i voted bad luck cos he had it before he turned pro.

But, if if eat unhealthy foods, drink, and exercise a lot it puts a lot of strain on your heart. Your heart has to work harder to get oxygen to all your muscles to keep up with the training.

Not aying he would be healthier if he didnt train hard, he'd be a fat bastard.

Actually i dunno, im not a doctor. I've confused myself. Too early on a sunday morning for my brain to be working.

My mate is a health freak, eats well, trains hard and he went in to the army a few years back and in his fitness test they detected he had a heart murmur! I think it may be something your born with or just bad luck! It definately won't have been boxing though if he had it before he turned pro!
