Let this be a lesson to all those idiots who drink Alcohol.

Hatton is 30, and his health is absolutely abysmal.

Hopkins, 44, and is in superb shape. Mainly due to staying away from Drugs, Alcohol and Women.

He is a married man, lives clean, and trains good.

Obviously Hopkins is a very rare example, but still it still shows.

Only has himself to blame if this is true. How is blowing up to 200+lbs within a week or so after cutting down to 140lbs going to keep you in good health? Binge eating and drinking is not a good combination. Maybe this enforced healthy living will help his boxing career if he does continue to fight on, which seems unlikely now..

It turns out all this talk about a "new" hatton was probably just that, talk. Mayweather sr had no chance to change his ways and as soon as he got in the ring his hands were down and his head moved a little bit but not whan pac was near him. Hatton loves his booze. Even if he didnt drink it would not have saved him from floyd and pac, his poor technique was to blame for that one, even though he was still good enough to dominate a division for several years, so well done to him for that. Plus hes a funny guy and a good fighter

Without a doubt! How can you be a supreme athlete like Wladimir Klitschko or Bernard Hopkins when you smoke and drink alcohol exorbitant amounts of alcohol regularly?

Let the early demise of Ricky Hatton purely due to his poor lifestyle be a lesson to ALL budding athletes.

Hatton, who has a heart murmur, was told by doctors that he needed to stay away from booze and stay on a good diet - or his life could be at risk. During his stay at the hospital, doctors found an irregular heatbeat, according to the paper. [details]

                  Very true.

While I disagree with Hopkins' racism and constant racial slurs, I think he is a role model for all sportsmen, boxers or not.

Any comparisons between Hatton and Hopkins are very important ones because people just don't realise the damage they can do to themselves by putting things in their mouth that they're not supposed to.
