By Cliff Rold - In front of a rabid hometown crowd at the Don Haskins Convention Center in El Paso, Texas on Friday night, 24-year old Mexican Jr. Featherweight Antonio Escalante (21-2, 13 KO) took a big step towards title contention with a crowd pleasing decision win over 31-year old Cornelius Lock (18-4-1, 11 KO) of Detroit, Michigan. Both men came in above the division limit of 122 lbs, Escalante at 124 and Lock at 122 ¼. [details]

He did great keepin his guard up and movin his head, he barely took any punishment at all. Plus that body work was insane, he broke him down quick fast. All in all, it looks like he's improved alot .But you look back at that Pastrana loss, and what happen was he got stung and wobbled and tried to come forward immediately. When that would happen to someone like Cotto when he was at 140, he would get wobbled, but he'd stay smart and move or hold. Even Lock got on his bike after gettin stung tonight. But yeah, Tony's lookin alot smarter now. When he was on the inside he never got greedy and stayed movin his head flawlessly, he never let himself get caught with a big shot. That was a great fight, I'll be lookin forward to seein him again. -
great fight.escalante has alot of heart.has power.he should get a date on showtime or hbo in the future. he brings action and most of all he brings fans to the fight. that kinnd support fires me up. those valasquez twin had me laughing from start to finish. its early in their careers though.Comment

Definetly a good show. What made this show even better was a great crowd that was really into it. I missed the first bout but I loved the upset in the second fight and the main event was really entertaining though it was one sided. One sided but competitive. Lock showed good heart....
