Do fighters get to keep their old belts/winners get to keep hand-me-downs?

So for example, when Manny took Hattons IBO belt did he keep that sweaty ass belt with little pictures of previous holders or did they make a brand new belt for Pac and slapped on those pictures on them? Did Hatton get to keep that old ass belt for remembrance or is completely stripped from him?

I'm not sure about the alphabet boys. THey prolly take all the old belts and pawn them, and call it retirement sanctioning fees or some ****.

However, the Ring Magazine will allow the winning fighter the chance to pose with his newly won title, but then must return the belt to the former champ. 6 to 8 weeks later, the belt is awarded to the new champion, with some pictures and an interview occassionally.
