I'm pretty sure he is with Top Rank so I'm wondering if he will be put on the undercard of Pac vs. Cotto or even have one fight before that and fight on the undercard in Novemeber.
Matvey Korobov: Any news on his next fight?

Nothing listed on Boxrec, but he fought twice in june, I imagine we'll see him fight again mid august.
I'd also be willing to wager he wins by knockout. -

I'd love to see him live. I think he is going to be an incredible boxer so long as he continues to train hard and doesnt get washed out. If he keeps it up I can see him dominating a couple weight classes.Comment

That can be a negative: Sometimes fighters that have a change in life-style based on where they live and how much money they have can fall off. I thought Tszyu (despite his success), had ups and downs because of it. And we've seen it time and time again with the Cuban Stars.
Korobov has the potential to be Champion. I think he should be Champion. Too much potential/talent to not get there.
Top Rank usually does a good job of bringing up fighters to maturity.
Fighting every month or two is good in my opinion for a young fighter. To many fighters aren't active enough.
He is 26 now so within the next couple of years he should be fighting for a title. Hell, he could probably be ready with another 12 months of fighting but we have to see how he is in his upcoming fights.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 07-24-2009, 08:38 AM.Comment

Totally. Top Rank seems pretty good about maturing their fighters quickly, usually a title fight around 20 wins or so. If he averages a fight a month we'll be seeing him in the big leagues late 2010.Comment

I'm hoping he stays active and I think that is what Top Rank has planned for him, as well as it being his intention.
Hopefully they put him on the undercard of Pac/Cotto's next fight as well to get him more exposure. Get HBO interested in signing him to a contract once he gets into the top 5 because he should be the future of the MW division and could even go up to SMW.Last edited by Benny Leonard; 07-24-2009, 09:51 AM.Comment
