the heart just aint there for fres, if he wanted thes eiwns , he had to get them decisevely which he didnt... hes in the mccline folder imo, just doesnt do what it takes to take it to the top level, lacks aggressivity and aint hungry enough imo. hes contempted with winning close and doesnt get the decisions against bigger names...Comment

fres beat etienne when etienne was hot stuff.
oquendo was just suppose to be another opponent for etienne.
etienne was on a roll at the time and everyone was hyped up on him after beating lawrence clay-bey , twin tyson couser and lamon brewster.
fres beat him down a few year before tyson even fought etienne.Comment

By Matthew Paras: Fres Oquendo was oh so ever “fres” looking as he weighed in at a comfortable 216 pounds, dropping four more from his last fight from last month. He was more than willing to share his views on his upcoming opponent, Bruce Seldon and him jumping back into the ring after only a month.
“Bruce Seldon is a very experienced fighter, a very cagey veteran. He’s fought a lot of names and like I’ve said, there’s not a heavyweight you can take lightly and I prepare myself 100% physically and mentally to overcome all obstacles in boxing” Oquendo said. “It’s another day in the office. It’s what I’ve been doing all my life, in my boxing career for twenty years, and I’m just happy I’m back in the ring back that quick.”
When mentioning other opponents after Seldon, it was inventible that Kevin Johnson and Odlanider Solis were to come up. The two fight on August 15th in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay. Oquendo had this to say about them:
“Well you know hopefully you know, best wishes to both of them, but whoever comes out victorious will hopefully man up and step up to fight a real heavyweight champion in myself and whoever wins I look forward to fighting,” Oqunedo explained. “The talent I possess and the hard work of boxing I’ve put in would overcome their inexperience in the new age of boxing.”
Another topic that is a hot one in the boxing world is the newly announced match between British Sensation, David Haye, and WBA champion, Nikolai Valuev. Haye and Valuev meet on November 7th, in a destination still to be determined. That didn’t stop Oquendo from giving his thoughts about the fight.
“It will be very interesting. David Haye has a great chance of beating that behemoth of a fighter and we don’t need no more freak shows in boxing. We need some real heavyweight fights and I hope David the best in that fight. “
However, the Haye vs. Valuev winner would probably be out of reach for Oquendo at the moment, so rising British prospect, Tyson Fury was brought up instead. Oquendo seemed puzzled to who he was:
“Never heard of him, don’t know who he is,” Oquendo explained. “I just want the top prospects and if not, I just want to stay active. If they keep ducking me, I just gotta keep do what I’m doing by fighting tomorrow night and I want to thank all fans in Chicago and at ******** boxing and giving me this exposure that’s well deserved.”
(Author’s note: I miswrote about Tony Thompson fighting Lamon Brewster in my last article. Sorry for anyone who I got their hopes up because I swore I read that somewhere. I guess the fight isn’t happening. Sorry)
