        It's a bull**** statement.

I'm sick of hearing how good the "good old days were." It wasn't perfect then and it isn't perfect now.

Same generation that heard it from their "elders" in regards to Joe Louis and that generation heard it about Dempsey, Johnson, Jeffries, Sullivan...

To many people think their generation is the greatest and it is bull****. You can take little things from each generation.

I mean seriously, Tyson might as well have been fighting some random dude out of the crowd that night. How is that as entertaining as Ali systematically breaking down the unbeatable destructive force that was George Foreman?

Yeah, well I'm sick of hearing how "superior" everything is now compared to just a few short years ago. This "every generation is better than the last" **** permeats this forum outside of a few small areas of sanity. As for my statement, if you polled people as to who they'd rather see fight I think you can be reasonably certain that the majority of those under 35 would vote Tyson and the majority of those over 35 would vote Ali.

Because of the Power Tyson put on Spinks both mentally and Physically.

Not saying Ali's win over Foreman wasn't better, but there is something to see in the Tyson vs. Spinks fight as well.

I think the fact that the names of Ali's fights have become embedded into sports history and the heads of most english speaking people in the world shows how much bigger he was than Tyson. I mean if you say boxing people will say: thrilla in manilla, rumble in the jungle ect ect.

That's just it: It wasn't. I saw Tyson - Spinks when it happend and I predicted what would go down the moment I saw the look on Spinks' face as he was getting in the ring. It had about as much drama as a pigeon shoot. Spinks looked like the dude being offered the blindfold and cigarette.

That wasn't Spinks in there that night. It was some dude mentally on a beach somewhere spending the 15 odd million dollars that he stole on his promise to give his best in the ring. Going to his happy place to avoid the reality of a younger, hungrier, meaner fighter whose sole intent was to destroy him.

                    Not entertaining to me, sorry.

Different generations. More of the ADHD generation today because of new things coming out all the time. Doesn't mean all, but it seems it is more so. I've also read that kids have the ability to process a lot more information today than yesterday.

                      Something simple:

When I was growing up a new pair of Jordan's came out once a year or so. The Jordan shoes were made much better then than now and everybody that was around at the time and compares them to today's models, say the same thing: Today's are a cheap knock-off version yet they are trying to sell it off as quality.
Now this isn't just the memory being bias because of good feelings of the past because some still have their original pair of shoes in safe keeping so they can compare. I had a friend that collected a few and we matched new vs. old.
Of course, those Old Pair were made from a type of worker for cheaper cost probably which means you can get higher quality for your dollar so there is some compromise in this "older vs. new" generation.
But for many things that were great back then, there are many things better today.

You also have the market flooded with Jordan sneakers which devalue the worth in my opinion.

Each generation tends to offer something good and something bad.

I pick what I like from each.

Ali was far from perfect and the same can be said about Tyson.
