Cotto vs. Pacman — prepare to get

    get on top of something

    NOW

With all due respect to UFC 100, I think Big Bout 234,567 -- Manny Pacquiao vs. Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand on Nov. 14 -- is going to surpass it in interest.

If boxing had more of these fights, there would be less to fear from the UFC.

Pacquiao and Cotto are two of fistic sport's greatest warriors. To paraphrase UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar, this is the kind of matchup that would make even casual fight fans want to "get on top" of something afterward.

At my house, it'll probably just be the sofa.

    THEN

Because boxing is a sport that still appeals to old men, it would be cool if one of the fighters at one of these blockbuster bouts decided to forsake the usual rap music or current hit by the EMI recording artist from his home country and instead entered the ring to the Gillette theme song from the old Friday Night Fights.

Not only would would said boxer "Look Sharp, Be Sharp, Feel Sharp" he'd also have everybody's grandpa pulling for him.
