Jermain Taylor has to beat Hopkins

I will admit right now Jermain Taylor is one of my favorites, and I wish him to fight Hopkins. Im pretty sure he has Hopkins number. It's something that I feel inside, as though Hopkins can stop everyone but him. Yes there is many aspects that favor Hopkins, but this is just a feeling, and I think it would be great for boxing. Lets look at it from this stand point. Hopkin is now 40, has 2 or 3 fights max. Given that Hopkins gets passed Eastman, he is able to pull off 2 more fights. One against say Johnson, and the final one against Taylor. I want to see a fresh face. I really don't want Tito Trinidad to rule the Middleweight division, or have Sturm take over. Both of them are great fighters, but Tito had his time at Welterweight, and now it's time for new young guys to take over. Such as Jermain Taylor.

A win for Jermain Taylor over Hopkins would make him a house hold name. On top of the world 4 belts, and money key fights up ahead. Great for boxing, and great for future matchups. A Hopkins win over Taylor will do nothing for Hopkins, as he already proven his greatness. He is already a household name, and it wouldn't make a difference. And the only key matchups for him is Felix Trinidad, and Glenn Johnson. I personally don't want to see rematches to those two fights. Hopkins brutalized both of them first time around. I dont want another even where Hopkins beats both of there asses.

I'm lookin into the future, and what I see is an undefeated 26 year old, who is hungry to take over, and show everyone what he can do.

If you are truly a Taylor fan, you probably shouldn't be wishing for a fight with Hopkins real soon. Taylor has some decent tools, and he's got alot of natural talent, but he's not ready for Hopkins yet, and a loss like Hopkins stands a good chance at giving him could ruin him for years. Look what happened to Vlad Klitchko when he got into the ring with a guy he wasn't ready for.

I'd say another year, maybe 2, and another 4 to 8 opponents and Taylor would be ready. Problem with that is, Hopkins may very well be retired...he should be, anyway.

I'm afraid for Taylor. He faces a very tough road.
If he beats Hopkins, many will say Hopkins' age just caught up with him, that he would never have beat Hopkins in his prime.
If he gets the belts without beating Hopkins, he's going to be viewed like Big Klit, as the best in the division, but a Paper Champion who didn't take the belts from the best he could have fought on the way up.

Except for Hopkins, the Midlleweight division is kinda thin. Tito may be looking at moving up, and everyone else of note is young and unproven, even Sturm.

You see the thing is that Im pretty confident Taylor has Hopkins number. Thats why I want him to vs Hopkins, because I think right now he has the tools to beat him. It's a feeling that I have.

I dunno...I've been watching fights since I was a kid, and I know a green kid when I see one. Don't misunderstand, I think Taylor has the **** to be a great, but he's just not ready yet, and if he's tossed in against someone he's not ready for, it could seriously **** him up. Again, reference Vlad Klitchko.

How can Taylor have Hopkins number? Everything but youth favors Hopkins in that matchup. Hopkins best punch is the sneak right hand and Taylor has been wide open for a right hand punch since the first time I seen him fight and he still is. Taylor would be eaten up by Hopkins right now. I wouldn't want to see Taylor against Hopkins or Tito anytime soon. He just isn't ready yet in my opinion.

I think if Taylor beats Hopkins people will think Hopkins was not 100% but he never really slipped in his career so Taylor would get alot of respect. First he needs to take out some top contenders before he even thinks about Bhop.

i think tito beats him. the fight at middle is tito vs hopkins 2. plain and simple. a good fight would be sturm vs taylor. but hopkins needs to get by eastman first which is not easy or we might see a eastman vs tito fight. or eastman vs taylor fight. but i see tito beating taylor.

Tell me again why Jermain Taylor has Hopkins number? Does anyone know why...or is it "just cuz he's got it?" I think Hopkins would exploit Taylor's weaknesses and beat him by a fairly comfortable decision or late stoppage. Taylor needs a Sturm/Ikeke/Soliman or someone like that to be anywhere close to fighting Hop. Taylors face when Hopkins hits his hips in a clinch -->
