    The True Boxing fan

I'm a Cotto fan obviously and would like my guy to win. But I am a fan of the sport way before Cotto was in it. I love Pac and would pick Pac to win in any other fight. As a fan my insticts tell me this will be a tough fight for Cotto because of the speed of Pac. But by the same tocken Cotto did fight a very quick Zab and TKO'd him in the 11th round which shows off Cotto's stamina as a boxer. I fear Pac's power but I don't know if it will be that much of a factor seing as he's fighting at 145 lbs. and has nexver fought anyone as big as Cotto. My other concern with Cotto is his obvious cut problems. He's now got that newly added gash above the left eye and he bleeds from his nose and he ends up breathing all that in and can't breath from it and causes him to breath through his mouth and creates a hughe fatigue problem as noted in the Margarrito fight.
So please, bring smart, articulated points to the table. Pro's and cons of bothe fighters. No fanatics please. Just to get an Idea of what people think.

In my opinion the Judah fight does nothing for the stamina case U speak of,because Judah has horrible stamina himself and between the two Cotto's was a little better!!But Pacman is like a machine in the stamina department, all in all though, great fight!!

The majority of those threads are filled with fanboys, as this thread will no doubt become at some point too.

I'm a Cotto fan and a Pac fan, i think Cotto got very lucky that he didn't lose his last fight with clottey. I had it a draw, but an argument could be made that he lost it, or that he won it.

My gut tells me Cotto, but i'm learning not to underestimate pac-man.

My Cons for Cotto are even though i know its only a 2lbs lower than 147 catchweight, i remember cotto being rocked at lighter weights, so that combined with his stamina issue may pose a problem. Also he has a new trainer, and even though he didn't get along with his uncle, I didn't like his corner for the clottey fight, and if he picks up someone new, its a new face in the corner. Pac's speed will also be a huge problem, Pacs speed is different than Zab's speed, and i think the cotto that fought Zab is different then the Cotto that will be fighting Manny, and margarito instilled a bit of doubt in Cotto's mind, Cotto kept hitting him and he wouldn't go down, then got beat up and quit, I think Cotto won't be able to hit manny, get frustrated and possibly beat up, i don't think manny hits as hard as Margarito, but i think the amount of times manny will be able to hit him will make him feel like he did during the marg fight.

My Pros for cotto, Bigger, Stronger, Very Smart Fighter, and an elite welterweight. Tremendous body puncher, and when manny's been knocked out its been body shots.

My Cons for Manny, are all of Cotto's pros, and perhaps the possibility of a floyd fight lingering in his mind.

My Pros for Manny, he's an animal, and a very skilled, fast, powerful and talented fighter, who (with roach) is great at dissecting tape and finding opponents weaknesses

I think its better for boxing if Manny Wins, i just want a good fight.
(I said the same thing during the ricky hatton fight)

cotto has a real test ahead of him.

pacquiao has all the "right" things going for him right now.

3 dominant wins, his mythical title, the money & fame, relationship with his trainer. pretty sure this list goes on.

cotto on other hand is still in a slump even though he did win his last fight.

the biggest factor i see in this fight is the relationship between roach and pac.

cotto did say he'll start camp mid august making it a 3 1/2 camp. so maybe that will give me ample time with his new trainer.

With Cotto's propensity to cut and Pac's ridiculous angles from which he punches I think Cotto will be cut very early and very often. I see the ref stopping this around 4 or 5. Cotto will be a bloody mess but will still be trying to win due to his enormous heart and determination.

4 or 5 round cut stoppage i don't see, unless they're very severe, they let cuts go a fairly long way, and because its a huge PPV, they'll wait till the last possible second. I say if cotto cuts bad enough to stop, it'll be stopped between 8-10
