Mexico's New Star, Saul "Canelo" Alvarez for a World Title in 2010!!!

"Canelo" Alvarez promoter Rafael "La Cobra" Mendoza told the press that Canelo will be fighting for the WBC Welterweight World Title at the end of 2010, when Canelo will be 20 years old (His 19 year old birthday was this past saturday, july 18), he's 5 in the World in the WBC.

He mentioned that various promotional companies have made them offers to fight for a World Title.

He said "We need to have patience in this sport, there's no necesity to speed things up, we are doing great, with solid steps, the case it's not be in a World Title fight very soon and then losing the fight, what we want right now is to train him with intensity and when the time comes he will get his World Title fight, and he will win it."

"There was an invitation from Golden Boy to fight for a World Title in this year; and DiBella (Berto's promoter) made us an offer, but we reject them, because we have to wait just a little more.

We have to wait so that Saul can evolve even more, getting more strenght and experience, and then we will go for the World, and it will be for the WBC Title, only for the WBC"

This saturday they celebrated Saul 19 birthday, and Mendoza said that only after Saul 20 birthday he will get him his WBC World Title Fight.

He will be fighting again on Mexico National TV, on Televisa's main channel, with millions of mexicans watching.

He will have 3 more fights this year, first he will be fighting russian Marat Khuzeev (they tried to get him a better opponent, but Marat was the only one that accepted the offer to fight him) on August 8, in Guadalajara.

Then he will be in Chiapas, September 12, on the undercard of the very well known (with the general public) mexican champ Edgar Sosa.

And in November he will have a fight in US.

They want him to have his fights in other states of Mexico and also alternate that fighting in the US, that's why his fight with the Russian will be his last fight in Guadalajara for the moment.

And when he becomes a World Champion, he will come back from his Journey, and fight a World Championship fight in his home, but right now, he's on his quest to conquer the World.

Video of his last fight with Brazilian Jefferson Goncalo, i liked the improvement of his defense, with his evading skills.

And Great KO to end things with a high note!!

wow, they're really bringing him up fast, hopefully not too fast. he has solid wins on his resume and has improved a lot but we all know the risk of rushing a fighter before they're ready. props to him though, he's an exciting fighter to watch. hopefully the next young champ mexicans are looking for.

Well he began his career when he was just 15 years old, when he will be 20, he will have 5 years of pro experience, a total veteran!! .

But GBP was crazy to try to put him in a Title Fight this year.

And i'm sure DiBella was afraid of this treat for Berto, and he tried to lure Canelo's people to fight him now, and not later when Canelo will become a Beast with his constant improvement.

I don't know if you have seen his Pro Debut at 15

        Here's the Video

He's definately a talent, I can see him going far I just hope they don't give him the big fights too soon, let him get some more experience and a few more fights under his belt and i'm sure he will mature into a great boxer.

wow, i'm surprised they captured his first fight. he's certainly come a long way, but it's not just the years of experience that i'm concerned about. it's important for him to be both physically as well as mentally prepared. 15 was really young to turn pro and hopefully he's not too young to be thrown in with the big dogs at ww. you gotta love his ambition that's for sure. show 'em what redheaded mexicans are made of

I believe "Little Red" Lopez started that trend a long time ago
