We all understand that Floyd has to sell his fights outside of the ring because his fighting style has not allowed him to do so inside of the ring. Yes, he is fighting a smaller man this time and he may be more offensive minded, but the casual fan is not going to realize or understand this.
There is absolutely no denying that Floyd isn't the draw that he and his loyal Floyd Scouts thought he was. Mayweather/Marquez has been received with lukewarm "anticipation" as reports state the fight is selling horribly and the lack of interests more than likely will be translation into low PPV sales. Floyd tried to bait Pacquiao into bailing him out of what could be a reality check in regards to his draw power by claiming he would pay Marquez step aside money if Manny wanted the fight. Didn't work.
So now he makes an incredible (though I feel may have some merit to it) claim regarding the white man's interests in the sport of boxing and the reasons why there is none as his fight will go head to head with UFC's card. But this time, he may have gone to far.
It almost feels like the reaction to this is more of DISGUST than actual hate. I really don't think people will be tempted to choose Mayweather/Marquez over UFC 1000342 or whatever just based on what Floyd said.
For one, it may have been successful if Floyd was fighting a white guy. But he's not. I truly feel he may have turned whatever swing buy there may have been off from the fight with those comments. It's obvious why he said them. There really isn't much **** to talk about when it comes to JMM. The Mexican fan base will buy the fight, but not many people outside of the boxing world other than hispanics and pinoy know who Marquez is and this is evident by his PPV history. So Floyd went at the enemy's base.
But he may have gone about it all wrong. And now, there is a real superfight the world is looking forward to.
JMM is making more fighting Mayweather than he ever has before.
Why is that if his mexican fanbase is so large????Comment

I don't think what Floyd said will have any real impact on who buys the fight. Most people already look at it as a mismatch they wouldn't buy, Floyd insulting MMA won't change that.Comment

I like the fact theres so much been said about the PPV numbers due to Floyd talking about how bigger draw he is etc. What excuses are people going to use when the fight shifts over 800k which it will?Comment
