You gotta think about the luster of the fight. I know how we know that straps really mean ****, but it would be history with Manny going for a another division, but there's other more important things.
If you have a friend that's not really a fan but watches big fights, and he asks you if it's a title fight you're gonna say no. You can explain all you want how it's bigger than any title, but to people who don't understand the sport like we do, they might be less inclined to go out of their way to see it.
Belts mean ****, but for better or worse, a belt on the line would make the fight bigger, and that's the ultimate goal.
