    Sorry to break your bubble but all the information in El Vocero came from Cotto and/or his lawyer. So the tittle will not be on the line.

        The tittle will not be on the line because Cotto gave way to much in the negotations (weight, purse etc) and the belt was part of his leverage. He probably said you either give me more money or fight me at 147 or the belt is not at stake. Pacquiao said no too both so Cotto did not put his tittle at stake.

            True you could look at it that way.

            But the fact is Cotto was always going to get less of the purse split regardless of title or not.

            And in reality Cotto not budging from 145 is a win...The fight was never going to be at 147.

                Another source. This time the president of the WBO talking about it.

                En una súper interesante nota de Carlos Narváez Rosario, del diario “El Vocero” de Puerto Rico, publicado este martes, el presidente de la Organización Mundial de Boxeo (OMB), Francisco Valcárcel, fue enfático en que aún exponiendo o no el título welter de la OMB ante el filipino Manny Pacquiao, el próximo 14 de noviembre, el campeón boricua Miguel Cotto deberá pagarle a la OMB un “sanction fee” de 3% de la bolsa hasta un máximo de $150 mil dólares.



                Se estima que Cotto estará percibiendo aproximadamente 15 millones de dólares, como total de sus honorarios en su pelea con Pacquiao, entre los 12 millones de la bolsa bruta y otros 3 millones por ventas de PPV.



                “La pelea puede ser en 140 libras o en 147 y para nosotros Cotto estará peleando por el título”, dijo Valcárcel a El Vocero. “Ya yo conversé eso con Bob Arum mientras estábamos en Nueva Jersey. Me parece que el único que no quiere que se pelée por el título es Gabriel Peñagarícano, abogado de Cotto. Pero tienen que pagar el ‘fee’ de cualquier forma. No sé cual es el planteamiento de Peñagarícano sobre el asunto y si lo hace como abogado o como Secretario del Consejo (Mundial de Boxeo)…Tiene que pagar la sanción de cualquier forma. Ellos necesitan la aprobación nuestra para pelear. Para nosotros el título estará en juego en esa pelea, él es nuestro campeón y tiene que pagar la sanción.”



                La nota de Narváez Rosario también sugirió que Peñagarícano se estará reuniendo con Valcárcel este miércoles, en busca de discutir estas discordancias. “Esto será una pelea fuera de título. No se estará exponiendo”, dijo Peñagarícano a El Vocero. “Tampoco se trata de entrar en debates con la OMB.”

                  To be fair at a catch weight that's how it should be... yeah its still at WW but it isn't at the limit IMO.
