Historical Signifigance of a Pacquiao win November 14th

Your guys thought about this? 7th world title in 7 weight classes would be absolutely astonishing. World titles from 112-147. His resume is amazing. Consistently fought the best fighters. I mean he will have done what NO other fighter has done in HISTORY. Step back & think about this.

No flaming but as a comparison fans have wanted PBF/Cotto since 2006 - Mayweather gave us many a reason for this fight not to happen and retired. What fans wanted from PBF in 3 years got from Pacman in 3 months. He's a fan's fighter, a true throwback.

You add in his story and political influence & his rise/superstardom in boxing today and I ask you where does he rank all time?

For me, top 20 without a doubt.

Thats if you believe he really won the LW title.

David Diaz was a paper champion.

Well let's take away Oscars MW title then, he's still got the most in history.

I know you're a big fan so I'm not gonna argue w/ you.

But to me all these titles don't mean much.

            He's a good fighter though.

Think about this, Mayweather always brags about this "multi-division" stuff but nobody really buys it since it was clear he picked Baldomir because he was the easiest way to another "title"..

Might fool casual fans, but not real ones.

I just think he's great for the sport so it's hard not to be a fan. I see your point about titles not meaning much, but doing something with titles that no one before you has done will probably draw more attention.

So then forget the belts, but beating a legit 145lb Cotto what does that do historically? Im thinking in the context of his career, keeping in mind 1 year ago people were laughing at this fight saying it would be suicidal for Manny...

Winning a major title in 7 divisions is amazing. I don't know enough about the guys he beat to win titles at flyweight and super bantamweight, but he beat the best at featherweight, junior lightweight, and junior welterweight. David Diaz was a legit title holder at lightweight with only one loss going into the Pacquiao fight. Miguel Cotto can easily be argued as the best welterweight in the world, as it is between himself and Mosley, who he did beat.

Given how tough, strong and good Cotto is its probably one of the biggest things he could do right now.

If he wins, then your claim about him is more than validated.
