There have been two recent Feature Articles comparing Bernard Hopins to Donald Curry, meaning that Howard Eastman is being compared with another British dragon-slayer named Honeyghan.
Comparing Curry-Honeyghan fight with the pending Eastman-Hopkins bout makes no sense and should end now.
Hopkins has already proven that he is not a Curry-type champ who will be suddenly "exposed". Guys have been trying for quite a while to find some way to expose Hopkins. Tito was supposed to be that guy, right? Eastman ain't him either. Time has shown that there's nothing to expose.
Curry lost to Honeyghan in Ring Mag's "Upset of the Year" and never recovered because he was had some kind of mental weakness. This weakness was simply exposed by Honeyghan and that weakness continued to be evident in Curry's post-Honeyghan fights, where he really was not the same fighter.
Hopkins has no underlying mental weakness, and there's no "Honeyghan" waiting to expose Hops. There have been a decade of fighters wanting to be a Honeyghan to Hopkins, but they never succeeded. Hops' mental toughness will again be quite evident against Eastman, along with unparalleled conditioning, ring savvy and experience.
