I never ever claimed he was a big puncher, be he had enough power to knock someone down and hurt them before...

Erm... That was my 1st post you idiot.

But that's ok, for someone dumb enough to rate Calzaghe, he must be dumb enough to not know the difference between 1 post and 2 posts

ok well you sound semi-logical. at least you arent a crazy nut saying he had good power before he hurt his hands. a more reasonable argument would be the reason he was able to knock a couple people down and hurt them is because he used to fight complete tomato cans where as in his recent fights he has stepped up his level of competition.

He carried Roy through the fight basically. He never had the power to knock him out ala Glen Johnson but he could've stopped him had he stepped on the gas.

Ok so some of the guys he Knocked down weren't ATG's but they were guys with chins I mean they might not have been skillfull but he had enough power to knock someone down with a chin.

I know Eubank wasn't prime but he had a damn good chin, and he fought Thompson twice and was winning after the Joe fight before the cut stoppage and he wasn't knocked down in those fights or in any other fight in his career.

Mitchell not having a great chin but a good one was knocked down, Brewer was hurt during their fight, Lacy was hurt too and the one thing you can credit Lacy for is a damn good chin, Woodhall was knocked down and his chin was pretty good.

They weren't skillfull artists (other than Eubank) but it does prove that Joe had the power to hurt and knock down fighters with good chins. He obviously never been a KO artist but he had enough power to make you think twice before coming in with your hands at your waist...

Glen Johnson's power is similar to Joe's.

The styles made for different results.

Plus Roy was absolutely crap with Glen.

watson put him down hard and also the punch calzaghe knocked him down with was cause he was completly off balance while pulling straight back. there was no real power there just well timed.

mitchell has a glass jaw. watch some of his other fights. siacca had him basically knocked out and so did julio cesar green not to mention richard hall and shumenov just ko'd him. also he fought pillow punchers most his career like ottke, girard, liles.

Joe Calzaghe is not a power boxer, He has had multiple hand injuries and as a result his hands can fall apart if he hits too hard. As a result he altered his style to throw many weaker shots.

It's not Joe's fault that he was cursed with bad tools and he should be praised for acheiving what he did rather than derided for what he didn't acheive

Yeah, I was off base with the Mitchell one. His chin was pretty bad, but Eubank's KD against Watson was exhaustion. When Eubank KO'd him he was breathing with his mouth wide open, he was throwing one punch at a time and looked near dead.

The Eubank knockdown definatly had power on it, it snapped Eubank head back and Eubank acknowledges it was a good punch at the time and in the post fight interview, that was definately a solid shot. Eubank was jumping back at the time and he legs went when he landed on them.

You have to admit Daggum, I know you hate Joe but since that fight to now his style definately has changed you won't find Joe throwing those kind of hooks in any of his last 5 fights

I honestly believe he could have got a tko on Jones if he had stepped it up, Roy is his idol however and it wasn't really needed. The cut was bad enough anyway.. to stop the fight imo, but yeah weak hands due to injury really hurt Joe..

His power was still ok tho.. i mean it kept people off him at least. But previous to his other injuries he actually had decent power hence his actual KO record is not so bad. He didn't wrap his hands well enough/properly for a long long time probably helped/caused his bad hands
