Another thing too, is that people give Mayweather **** for fighting Marquez at 143-144, but at the same time want Cotto to fight Pacquiao at 145-147 which he is doing pretty much. There are double standards on these forums. Both Mayweather and Cotto should be fighting real Welterweights. If Mayweather does get past Marquez, I would rather see him fight Mosley than the Pacquiao-Cotto winner as long as Mosley follows up with something since that performance against Margarito. And Cotto should give Clottey a rematch if he beats Pacquiao. If Pacquiao beats Cotto, I either want to see him give JMM a rubbermatch even if Marquez loses competitively to Mayweather, or else defend his title at 140 which he seems to have no intentions of doing.

This is a rare occasion where you and I disagree on a particular subject.

Floyd gets **** because he hasn't faced a real welterweight since Baldomir (and a one-trick pony at that). His first fight back is against someone with a grand total of two fights at lightweight and none higher than that, and is now asked to make somewhere in the vicinity of 143-147 lb.

Since Floyd-Baldomir, Cotto has faced:
- Quintana (unbeaten at the time and coming off of a huge win over Julio)
- Urkal (a tune-up, but still top ten)
- Judah (past his best, but still the worst beating he's ever taken)
- Mosley (top five welter at the time of the fight, coming off near shutout of Collazo)
- Gomez (tune-up)
- Margarito (no worse than the third best active welter in the world on the night they fought, though of course didn't turn out the way Miguel liked)
- Jennings (tune-up)
- Clottey (top five welter)

Cotto is conceding money and weight in this fight. I don't see where he deserves to get chastised for not facing a welterweight in November, given his credentials.

I can see people taking issues with Manny. I still love the Pac-Cotto fight, but it's only a true risk when it's not followed by a handful of demands.

I agree with you on what needs to take place after these two catchweight fights.

like he and think he is a good fighter but he is not that great as
an over all skillful fighter. IF he was a great as everyone makes
him out to be, he would have did a Shane on Margarito first.
People make that Plaster excuse but bottom line is that Cotto
didn't have to take that beating IF he was a ring technician.
With Margarito and Cotto I always said, take their punch and
aggression away and them guys can be beat. Margarito and Cotto
use the same approach when they fought but the bigger stronger
man got the W. No matter what people say about Floyd, his skill
set would have him winning against Margarito and Cotto if he fought
them both. Might be to a boring decision but there is NO WAY
Margarito/Cotto gets Floyd to fight their fight. I also said that
Cotto is a punching bag with arms.
