Come on people. This is the natural fight. Maidana is a very good fighter, crude, but effective. He lost a pick 'em decision to Kotelnik after a good tear up in Germany and has recently battered the highly touted prospect Ortiz in their own mini war.
Khan has recently done very well for himself. Beating the durable Kotelnik by 9-3/8-4 over the 12 round period in order to snatch one of the many WBA belts available.
As you should know, Maidana is Khan's mandatory and is very, very worthy of a shot at the 'full' title.
Will Khan blatantly DUCK Maidana and move down to fight, blown up, shot Morales? Probably if Roach is involved with his recent antics. (By the way, I am disgusted at Roach for mentioning Hatton's and Morales' names - he of ALL people should know what could lie in store if you go on too long, he is a disgrace at the moment).
I'm think he will DUCK Maidana and move ahead with easier fights that 'bring no greatness to him'. This is a logical fight and would be an easy one to make - Maidana and Khan would probably stand to make their biggest pay days to date as Khan is now the 'full' title holder.
Even if Khan claims that 'this is the moment he has been waiting for' (being a 'champ'), believe me, he will dump that plastic strap in the bin the moment someone with more than a 50% KO ratio comes knocking.
We all know what TRUE champs do when they have won their belts (let's say Froch in the Pascal war) and have a tough mandatory do - as was the case with Froch and Taylor.
They go to their backyard and KTFO them in an exciting fight. Still, one can only dream?
